How To Install Remmina on Linux

Remmina is a remote desktop client for Unix and Linux based operating systems. It supports protocols such as VNC, SSH, SPICE etc. In this tutorial, we will cover how to install it on Linux system. Some Linux distributions may come with it pre-installed or available in the official software repositories.

Ubuntu

To install Remmina on Ubuntu, Enter the commands in your terminal

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:remmina-ppa-team/remmina-next
sudo apt update
sudo apt install remmina remmina-plugin-rdp remmina-plugin-secret

Debian 10 Buster

For Debian Buster, Remmina is available in the official repositories stable, unstable and testing. You can install it using the default package manager apt. You can also use the official software marketplace.

sudo apt-get install remmina -y

Debian 9 Stretch

On Debian 9 you can install Remmina from backports by using the commands:

echo 'deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian stretch-backports main' | sudo tee --append /etc/apt/sources.list.d/stretch-backports.list >> /dev/null
sudo apt update
sudo apt install -t stretch-backports remmina remmina-plugin-rdp remmina-plugin-secret remmina-plugin-spice
